A Short History of SIMA!

SIMA was officially formed in January 1976 by Ellen Trueblood when NAMA wanted to hold a foray in the McCall area to honor Dr. William Judson Boone of The College of Idaho for his contributions to mycology. The 1976 NAMA Boone Foray became official in August 1975 when Ellen, Nelle Tobias, Orson and Hope Miller crowded around a pay phone in front of the telephone company in downtown McCall, Idaho. Ellen was on the phone to NAMA, and with Orson, Hope, and Nelle’s encouragement, the Boone Foray became a reality. Ellen became its Chairperson. Ellen tracked down people she knew who were interested in mushrooms in Boise and the Treasure Valley and SIMA became a reality.
